PV stands for photovoltaic — the technology where solar cells convert sunlight into electricity. A grid-connect system on your roof reduces how much power you buy from the grid during the day.
Temperature affects output. Panels operate best at an ambient temperature up to 25°C; hotter weather reduces output. Hail is unlikely to damage modern panels, which are tested with a 20mm ice ball at 23m/s.
Is my house suitable?
Most houses are suitable. Trees shading the roof will reduce output depending on the shade. Our technician will assess solar access when quoting. Savings depend on system size, roof orientation and tilt, and shading — we prepare a free PV designer report showing estimated production.
Basic maintenance includes occasionally cleaning modules of leaf litter and debris. If you can’t pay for the system outright, Sparkrite offers payment plans.
