Air Conditioning Sizing Guides

Get the right capacity for your rooms, climate and energy use.

To correctly size an air conditioner you need site information: room size, window size, construction, orientation and insulation. Get it wrong and the unit either won’t heat or cool the area, or it will be inefficient and expensive to run.

You’re welcome to use this as a starting point, then call our office to book an on-site inspection. We will send a qualified technician to assess the best solution for your particular area and provide a completely obligation-free quote.

A few rules of thumb

  • Measure the room and note ceiling height, windows and which way the room faces
  • West-facing glass and poor insulation need more capacity
  • Open-plan living often needs a larger or multi-head system
  • Commercial spaces and kitchens have extra heat load

A site visit is the only way to size the system properly. We would rather quote the right unit once than have you live with a system that never quite copes.
